A major problem with hydroponic lighting is timer failure. Household timers bought from hardware stores are simply not designed to handle the (inductive) power loads of hydroponic lighting. The solution is to buy a PowerStar controller. You still need a 24-hour mechanical (household) timer however the power goes through the controllerand not your timer. The role of the timer in this is to turn your controller on and off which then turns your lights on and off. There is no wiring to do with any of our contactors - you just plug and grow.
